Car accidents: Cross-over driver causes crash that kills 1

California motorists will always be at risk while they travel on the busy roads of the state, even if they avoid dangerous driving habits such as distraction or impairment. The chance of being the victim of the negligence of another driver is always possible. In many circumstances, multi-vehicle car accidents involve only one negligent driver who leaves injured and/or deceased victims in several other vehicles.

The California Highway Patrol reported a three-car crash in Antioch on a recent Thursday morning. According to an accident report, it occurred shortly after 7 a.m. when a driver who was northbound on a local road failed to maintain his or her traffic lane. The vehicle apparently crossed the center and entered the southbound lane, directly into another car’s path. It then went into a spin before smashing into a third vehicle.

The driver of the car that was first struck suffered fatal injuries and died at the crash scene. Both of the other drivers were transported to a medical facility for treatment of minor injuries. The reason for crossing into oncoming traffic was not reported, and authorities did not reveal whether alcohol or drug impairment was suspected. The investigation will likely continue.

Whenever California families lose loved ones in car accidents that result from the negligence of other parties, they are entitled to pursue recovery of damages. With the help of an experienced personal injury attorney, surviving family members can file a wrongful death lawsuit. Once liability is established by appropriate evidence, documented claims for economic and non-economic damages will then be adjudicated by the court.
